Partner to the world's leading manufacturers
Automotive Market
The automotive industry is changing fast, driven by the rise of electric vehicles, tightening emissions standards and cost pressures that are challenging traditional manufacturing approaches. OEMs expect components that meet weight reduction targets, strict safety requirements and production volumes able to scale from prototype to several million units. Whether for combustion engines, hybrids or fully electric powertrains, automotive parts must deliver consistent performance while meeting ambitious cost targets.
At Setforge, we work with automotive manufacturers across every vehicle segment, producing forged components in steel, aluminium and stainless steel for combustion, electric and hybrid applications. Our forging capabilities cover transmission shafts, gears, chassis components and injection system parts. From prototype to high-volume serial production, our role as a partner covers design optimisation, cost competitiveness and lead times aligned with the ramp-up of automotive programmes.

TRANSMISSION & GEARBOX
Automotive transmissions have evolved into complex multi-speed systems, featuring dual-clutch configurations and the integration of electric motors within hybrid architectures. These applications call for precision components that hold tight tolerances over millions of cycles while supporting ongoing weight-reduction efforts. Our hot and cold forging processes produce gears and transmission shafts with optimized material usage. The continuous, oriented grain flow achieved through forging helps improve fatigue resistance, while near-net-shape manufacturing reduces material waste and machining operations. Combined with suitable design, these processes make it possible to reduce component weight while maintaining the required mechanical strength and keeping costs competitive for high-volume automotive programs.

MOTOR & INJECTION
Modern combustion engines, diesel engines in particular, operate at exceptionally high pressures and temperatures. Common-rail injection systems can exceed 2,000 bar, while turbochargers endure severe thermal and mechanical stresses. These conditions demand components that resist deformation, fatigue and dimensional drift in order to maintain performance and sealing integrity over time. Depending on the application, our forging expertise allows us to produce components for turbocharging and injection systems in steel, stainless steel or aluminum alloy, engineered to meet these requirements. By refining the material's structure and orienting its grain flow, forging helps limit internal discontinuities and improves the mechanical strength of parts compared with some cast alternatives. Combined with rigorous control of materials, processes and inspections, it delivers the reliability levels expected by the automotive industry while remaining compatible with optimized high-volume production.

CHASSIS
Automotive chassis components must satisfy multiple demands: contributing to the vehicle's structural integrity and safety while keeping weight down to improve energy efficiency and dynamic performance. Their manufacture must also remain compatible with the cost, quality and cycle-time requirements of high-volume automotive programs. Hot forging produces chassis parts with high mechanical integrity and an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Combined with optimized design, suitable materials and rigorous validation, it supports the development of lightweight components that meet strength and crash-performance requirements. Our industrial organization supports projects from the earliest development phases through to series production, with ramp-up tailored to the needs of each program and, for some components, volumes exceeding one million parts per year.

ELECTRIC DRIVE
Electric vehicles bring new design constraints: high torque available from very low speeds, battery integration and geometries that differ from traditional automotive architectures. Weight control is a major challenge, as it directly affects energy efficiency and driving range, while manufacturing costs must stay competitive to support market growth. We produce shafts, gear components and structural parts designed to meet these requirements. Thanks to a favorable strength-to-weight ratio and optimized material usage, forging enables the development of lighter components without compromising mechanical performance. Our ability to adapt processes and solutions to evolving electric architectures also allows us to support automotive programs through every phase of development and industrialization.
