The railway industry requires components that deliver exceptional safety and reliability across diverse transportation systems, from high-speed trains to urban tramways and metro networks. Railway equipment operates under continuous loading conditions with minimal maintenance windows, making component durability critical for operational efficiency. Safety standards in rail transport are among the most stringent in transportation, as component failure can affect hundreds of passengers and cause significant service disruptions.

At Setforge, we work with railway manufacturers producing forged components in steel, aluminum, and stainless steel for trains, locomotives, and track infrastructure. Our forge capabilities cover critical railway systems including braking components, traction elements, steering systems, and switching mechanisms. We produce parts that meet the demanding requirements of passenger transport, freight operations, and urban transit systems. Through close collaboration from design to production, with a focus on meeting railway certification standards and delivery schedules, our forged and machined components contribute to the safety and reliability that railway operations demand.

TRAIN & LOCOMOTIVE

Rail vehicles face high operational demands: heavy loads, frequent acceleration and braking cycles, vibration and long service lives. Traction and braking systems must deliver consistent performance while withstanding mechanical and thermal stresses, in environments exposed to weather, temperature extremes, and track-borne dust and debris. Our forging processes produce components with high mechanical integrity and properties matched to in-service loads. Controlled material distribution supports resistance to load variations, while material and treatment selection meets fatigue and functional-stability requirements. Command of the manufacturing process and its associated inspections allows us to develop parts engineered to maintain their performance over time and to support the reliability of functions essential to rolling-stock operation and safety.

TRACK & INFRASTRUCTURE

Track equipment, switches and their operating mechanisms in particular, carries the dynamic loads of passing trains while guiding them precisely from one route to another. Exposed to impacts, wear, contact fatigue and the weather, these components must retain their geometry and function through repeated use cycles. Our forging expertise produces parts with the strength and toughness these applications demand. Orienting the material in the most highly stressed zones improves resistance to impacts and repeated forces, supporting equipment durability and infrastructure availability. Near-net-shape manufacturing optimizes material usage and limits machining volumes. It helps control production costs while meeting the dimensional, functional and safety specifications of railway equipment.
