Fire drills at Setforge

Home > News > Industrial safety

The safety of our employees and facilities is an absolute priority within the Setforge Group. This commitment translates into regular, realistic drills conducted in close collaboration with emergency services. Here's a look back at two major fire drills recently organized at our Extrusion plant in L'Horme and our Bouzonville facility.

SETFORGE EXTRUSION: A SURPRISE DRILL TO TEST OUR REFLEXES

On Saint Barbe's Day, 8:45 AM. Thick smoke suddenly spread through the Setforge Extrusion plant in L'Horme, coming from the phosphating line. The alert was immediately raised by one of our employees. Not a minute to lose: all teams made their way calmly despite their concern to the assembly point in freezing cold weather. Five minutes later, the fire engine sirens rang out... It was a drill!

Organized in close collaboration with SDIS 42, this "surprise" drill had all the hallmarks of a real incident: real smoke, a simulated casualty, and a scenario closely aligned with our actual risk areas.

Multiple Objectives for Enhanced Safety

These recurring drills are essential as they enable us to:

  • Familiarize emergency teams with our facilities and industrial processes
  • Test the effectiveness of our safety procedures under real conditions
  • Verify the adequacy of our equipment and response resources
  • Strengthen the prevention culture among our employees

SETFORGE BOUZONVILLE: EXEMPLARY CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION

Last week, our Setforge Bouzonville plant hosted a major fire drill that jointly mobilized French and German firefighters. An impressive demonstration of cross-border cooperation in service of industrial safety!

Located in a strategic border area, our Bouzonville plant benefits from this unique collaboration between emergency services from both countries. This drill pursued the same objectives as the one in Extrusion. With one significant additional dimension: testing coordination between French and German firefighters in an emergency situation. This cross-border cooperation optimizes response times through the mobilization of resources on both sides of the border and strengthens ties between different emergency services.

SAFETY: OUR DAILY COMMITMENT

These two drills illustrate our proactive approach to safety. By regularly organizing realistic simulations, we ensure that our teams and partners are ready to respond effectively in the event of a real incident.

Risk prevention and employee protection remain at the core of our daily concerns, wherever we operate.
A big thank you to SDIS 42, the firefighters of Bouzonville and Thionville, SDIS 57, and the Feuerwehr of Oberesch and Saarlouis for their professionalism and commitment.
