TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE

Setforge has been producing driveline components for heavy-truck axles and gearboxes for many years. Our command of a wide range of geometries lets us meet a dual challenge: achieving the required precision while keeping manufacturing competitive at automotive volumes. Heavy-truck transmissions face wide load variations, repeated gear changes and high torque peaks. Our hot and cold forging processes produce shafts, pinions and other components with high mechanical integrity. Orienting the grain flow along each part's geometry and loads improves fatigue performance and torque-carrying capacity. Combined with optimized design, this command of the material delivers a high strength-to-weight ratio, contributing to the efficiency, durability and reliability of transmission systems.

CHASSIS & BRAKING

Chassis, suspension and braking components for heavy trucks must carry the loads of vehicle combinations that can reach or exceed 40 tonnes, while absorbing impacts and road irregularities day after day. The challenge is to combine strength, consistent behavior and dimensional control on parts that can be sizeable. Anti-roll bars and suspension components must retain their properties under repeated loading. Hubs, brackets and braking elements, for their part, face significant mechanical and thermal stresses, particularly during prolonged or repeated braking. Command of the forging process yields components with consistent mechanical properties throughout their cross-section. Combined with suitable design, targeted heat treatments and rigorous inspections, it helps chassis parts preserve their geometry, elastic behavior and resistance to repeated loading throughout their specified service life. In a sector where every kilogram affects payload and vehicle efficiency, our teams also help manufacturers optimize geometry and the amount of material used.

ENGINE

Engine components operate under especially demanding conditions marked by high rotational speeds, steep thermal gradients and cyclic pressures. Under such repeated stresses, porosities, inclusions and other discontinuities can become crack-initiation sites and shorten part life. Under the combined effects of pressure, high temperature and extended duty cycles, engine components must retain their integrity despite significant thermomechanical stresses. Controlled deformation of the material matches the grain flow to the part's geometry and develops a microstructure that meets the toughness, strength and fatigue requirements of heavy-transport engines.

ELECTRIC DRIVE

The shift of heavy trucks toward battery-electric, hybrid and fuel-cell powertrains is gradually reshaping powertrain architectures. Integrating batteries, electric motors, compact transmissions and hydrogen-related equipment introduces new geometries and new design constraints. Weight is a major consideration for these vehicles, as it affects payload, energy consumption and range. Our teams adapt forging processes and material distribution to develop shafts, driveline components, axle elements and linkage parts with a strength-to-weight ratio suited to each application. Near-net-shape manufacturing reduces material waste and limits machining volumes, easing the industrialization of complex geometries and helping control production costs. Drawing on our experience with electric-mobility projects, we support truck manufacturers and suppliers through the rapid evolution of heavy-truck architectures, from early development through series production.
